E3 Gone This Year, or Gone For Good?
With the Entertainment Software Association deciding that E3 2020 is canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, fans are left wondering if E3 still has a purpose in this streaming era.
The annual expo showing off the new games and technology, E3, has been canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This decision was announced on the E3 Twitter page, which is run by the Entertainment Software Association, that E3 2020 would be canceled to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
The official statement from the E3 Twitter can be seen below.
From the news source “Wired”, they said, “The Entertainment Software Association made the decision last week as many other public gatherings around the world were put on hold in an attempt to slow down the spread of Covid-19”. Taken from the E3 website, the Entertainment Software Association said, “Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation”.

From the picture and knowing that the Coronavirus can spread quickly in close proximity, E3 being canceled is helping in stopping the spread of this virus.
The issue that many E3 fans have now in this era of online streaming is if E3 will happen next year. With many companies such as Nintendo Co. and Sony Interactive Entertainment already taking the streaming route of releasing information compared to the traditional presentation format, fans are left wondering if E3 still has a purpose.
