About: Authors Column

Hello, my name is William and I am a current senior at CSUF. I am in my last few semesters of my schooling and am looking forward to where I end up next. I am still working on my Cinema and Television Arts major and Broadcast Journalism minor and love how interesting both fields can be. My dream goal after college is to be able to get a job at a news studio like ABC so I can help contribute and give information to all those that need it.

With the pandemic continuing to go on, I have found new interests and hobbies to keep myself learning new things. I enjoy drawing, listening to music, botany, talking with friends, skateboarding, playing games, and cooking. With so much being uncertain in the world at the moment, having a space to discuss my thoughts and emotions feel nice and healthy and I hope that we both learn something new from each other.

What is Social Inequality?

What I aim to do for with this blog is to create an open discussion on the topic of Social Inequality. Social Inequality is the practice of unfair opportunities given to different groups of people. This inequality can be from several factors such as ethnicity, race, religion, gender, and biology. A goal in combating social inequality is to inform others on these factors so that we can lessen the gap between everyone so that everyone is treated fairly. Throughout the next couple of blog posts, I plan to discuss several theories and concepts based on social inequalities like oppression, intersectionality theory, privilege, gender, and much more. I look forward to the many discussions that we will have.
